Konnor Griffin skyrocketed up the prospect ranking systems this season, eventually in July becoming the number one ranked prospect in baseball for Baseball America and MLB Pipeline. Also in July Griffin's OPS was .845 making July the worst month for Griffin offensively this year.

By no means is .845 struggling, but for Konnor Griffin, the top prospect in baseball, it is a bit disappointing. To be fair, Konnor Griffin was certainly not overwhelmed. His BB/K ratio was 9:14 which is along the lines of his previous performances. Konnor clearly lacked power which led to his low OPS in July. He hit 1 home run which is not like him at all. He hit two triples and 4 doubles which is decent, but not enough to make up for the lack of home runs. He has 1 home run so far in August.

So far in August, Griffin has one home run and just had his first multi-hit game since July 29. Hist last baseless (did not get on base) game is July 20. He never lost his consistency which really shows his star potential, but his power needs to come back in August and so far it has. He is striking out more so far in August, but nothing outrageous.

Things to keep an eye on is Konnor Griffin's ability to work through the late season grind, keep his power, and reduce his strikeout rate back into the teens all while getting on base almost every game.
