Since Don Kelly's first game as manager on May 9th, the Pirates have had arguably the best pitching staff in the majors.

The Pirates during the span of May 9th through July 3rd, surrendered the second least number of runs, 3 more than the Rangers. They have the second lowest ERA at 3.14 again behind the Rangers. The third lowest ERA is the Giants at 3.41. During this time, the Bucs recorded the 5th lowest strikeout total at 369.

The Bucs pitching staff has the third highest pitching fWAR with 7.1 trailing the Astrols at 8 fWAR and the Phillies with 7.3 fWAR. The Bucs are tied for the second best FIP behind the Cardinals and tied with the Braves. The pitching staff has the second highest Win Probably Added with 5.88. Our Buccos also lead the mlb during this time in BABIP, HR/9, and HR/FB.

No other team is in the top 3 in the league in all of these metrics and stats combined. The Pirates are getting the most out of their pitching staff right now. Despite the low K rates and falling middle of the pack in stuff+, the results are elite and the management deserves credit for that.
