The Bucs won their first spring training game of 2025 beating the Baltimore Orioles in 10 to 5 at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida.

This game sneaked up on me, so I didn't watch it yet. But it feels good to have baseball games back again. The Bucs showed a lot of power today fronted by Matt Gorski. The 27 year old was not drafted in the rule 5 draft this year, and has yet to make his major league debut. He known for having a good power/speed/arm combo with a big frame at 6'2". His ability to play outfield (including center field) and first base may make him a dark horse candidate to grab a bench spot due to the Spencer Horwitz injury. He hit two towering home runs scoring 2 runs and a grand slam the second time.

The other home run came from DJ Stewart who is also a candidate to take reps at First Base after the Horwitz injury. Endy Rodríguez and Henry Davis both had strong games with 2 walks and 1 walk, respectively. Both hit a double. Termarr Johnson struck out in his two ABs.

Carmen Mlodzinski opened the game and pitched 2 innings giving up two runs. After the game he discussed his desire to pitch in the rotation. Long time Washington National Tanner Rainey pitched the 5th inning and earned the win.
